WHAT ARE IMAGEMAPS?
At many web sites, you will see a list of underlined text links on a
page (often referred to as a hotlist). This is simply a list of multiple URLs
assigned to multiple text objects. Instead of using multiple text links,
however, the list of URLs could be attached to a single image object. Such
an object is called an imagemap, which is a fancy way of presenting a list of
links. This takes a little longer to download than a hotlist because of the
added time required for the grapuic to load. Most of the time, it's worth the
wait because imagemaps are a more convenient, visual way to present multiple
choices to your audience.
